THE WORLDS LONGEST NATIVE AMERICAN PAINTING

A COMPREHENSIVE ARTISTIC PRESENTATION OF CONTEMPORARY NATIVE AMERICA

In the World’s Longest Native American Painting (WLNAP), artist Daniel Ramirez, MFA (Saginaw Chippewa Descendent) presents an ethnographic project with encyclopedic ambitions through the depiction of many Indigenous Women and their role in Native American Culture. This project features matrilineal and iconic figures of over three hundred Native American Tribes of North America.

“This work is my artistic interpretation of the Humanity that Women bring to the World.”

Special attention is given to children’s learning, including the making of a new digital map of the US which will highlight and connect the location of each tribe to each state. This collection of large paintings presents the diversity of cultures of many of tribes of North America including a new technological process that connects research, computer technology, art, histories, storytelling and modern Native American Lives. The WLNAP presentation online will also introduce audio presentations of over one hundred indigenous languages.

As of 2024, the World’s Longest Native American Painting consists of 12 large paintings that have been completed and published.

“My project illustrates the dynamic role that art plays in Indigenous Life-ways, challenging educational shortcomings, stereotypes and misrepresentations associated with Native American Cultures.”

For this exhibit of the WLNAP, Daniel Ramirez will present 12 sections along with a narrative that will detail the description of every Indigenous Woman for each painting. We will also include other images and objects pertinent to the exhibit in order to create the most memorable experience.
